Steve Scherschel is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He holds Masters Degrees from DePaul and Loyola Universities. Steve completed an internship at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, Center for Addiction Medicine. Volunteer activities include teaching ESL classes for students migrating from Latin America, Asia and Europe.
Steve’s areas of interest include individual and group counseling with adults and young adults, particularly during times of life transition – recovery, career change, loss, grief, relocation, relationships, aging. Steve provides support to clients experiencing anxiety and depression. Steve has a keen interest in working with multi-cultural clients. As an interactive therapist, he enjoys exploring dimensions of spirituality as may be introduced by his clients. His therapeutic approach is both person-centered and existential as he journeys with clients toward discovery of meaning and purpose in their lives.
Steve offers clients the benefit of his varied life experiences which include an extensive professional background. He holds a deep respect for the individual views and experiences of his clients, and is committed to a holistic approach to therapy such that the goal of building a functional and helpful alliance between therapist and client can be achieved.
